London’s Air Ambulance fundraiser Darren Green is the latest recipient of The Canvasser of the Month Award. In addition to representing London’s Air Ambulance, Darren fundraises for The East Anglian Air Ambulance, and he topped the charts for the period in terms of the number of sign-ups he made.
Darren originally began fundraising for Air Ambulances in October 2016 and in this time, he has proved himself one of the most hard-working canvassers on our books. It is no coincidence that he has regularly featured in the best-performing fundraisers as he is prepared to put the hours in and get the best out of any venue he is working at. Darren works alongside his good friend Gary Pert, who won last month’s award, and here they are pictured together representing LAA inside Queen Elizabeth Hospital in London.
Darren and Gary are amongst the most secret-shopped fundraisers on our books and last week even had a visit from Jonathan Jenkins, CEO of London’s Air Ambulance. The feedback that they receive is fantastic and this is reflected in how they come across to the public. On the same day that they were secret-shopped by the charity, a lady walked up to their stand and gave them a cheque donation for £1,000. Despite not being able to accept donations, Darren and Gary gratefully accepted the offer and simply posted the donation direct to the charity.
Darren, Gary and fellow fundraisers recently visited The Royal London Hospital to meet the pilot and paramedics that fly on the helicopter. On a beautiful afternoon, after having photographs alongside the helicopter, they also got to see it fly off to an emergency in East London. After attending the mission, the helicopter brought back a patient to The Royal London Hospital for further treatment.
